Default X01Michael's Troubleshooting Guide.

here is a guide to help you guys with your prelude issues. it seems A LOT of people dont know how to troubleshoot and or use google or a HELMS. ive been through almost every possible issue and now its time to let you guys know what to do and how to fix these things in a trouble shooting way instead of asking the same 5 questions on the forums. this is just an overview i know things can be a lot more complicated but this should help a lot of people here that need a quick refrence.

1: Engine will crank but not turn over
-Check for fuel (if no fuel check main relay, fuel pump, and fuse for fuel pump)
-Check for spark (if no spark check your dizzy, coil pack, then check harness as well as ecu)

any kind of knocking(spun bearing) ticking(valves need to be adjusted)

2: Idle issues
-check for vaccum leaks
-IACV or FICV need to be cleaned
-Check idle screw on throttle body
-Check for leaks in intake manifold

3: Smoke
Black - Rich (fuel)
Blue - (Smoke - FRM sleeves FTL)
White - Antifreeze combusting in your cylinders aka blown headgasket or cracked block/head ect. to check pull your oil cap off and look for a milky liquid on it.

4: EGR
-Clean the EGR valve itself(if this does not solve then you must clean the intake manifold.

5: Clutch
-No Pressure (check slave cyl. check mast cyl. and lines in between all for leaks)
-Clutch slips (its probably done, check your push rod for the correct clearance)
-Wont go in gear (Possibly the spring in the clutch is between the pressure plate and clutch plate causing it to be engaged all the time)

Autozone clutches suck. dont buy that crap. i purchased a CC1.5 it was not only cheaper but its quality is better and has lastest a lot longer.

6:Check Engine Light
-Check for the code (put a pin in the blue connector behind the center console. a long flash is 10 and short is a 1.

7:Suspension
-if you hear clicking, knocking while you turn check your axles for a broken boot.
-if any rubber in any of the suspension parts are leaking grease or are torn then yes they need to be replaced.

8:Engine
-The code is on the block where the transmission meets it. should say H22A
H22A1 ect ect.

This is all just a few things i see the most. and mainly is just for my satisfaction knowing that i tried to help, but just like the government listening to the public it probably wont happen.

Little info about me - i used to own a 93 prelude s with an SiR H22A 11:1 (Fully rebuilt myself with cigarrets, beer, and a helms) ive COMPLETELY taken that care apart and put it back together. i wish i could help everyone on here at the same time with all thier problems but its impossible. This is just a troubleshooting guide to help a little. if you have any problems best way to reach me is on bookface.

get a beer, sit on the couch, download the HELMS from here:
