Which turbo clear the block with SpoolinPerformance Log mani?
Hello, for those who are using the log style manifold from SpoolinPerformance, could you list the turbo that you used and have no issues of clearing the block? I want to see what options i have with no extra modification.
Motor is a b18b, bone stock, HP goal 250whp.

You're talking about the schedule 10 log manifold and nothing cast correct?

Not

The turbo used is irrelevant. On any of his manifolds to fit, the best ones to use have a T04b Compressor cover and a T31 4 bolt turbine housing. (This includes the GT3255b, Silver surfer, Wolverine, or any T04B housed/compressor cover) Though the standard T04E compressor cover for the 50,60,60-1, and 61mm (SC61 or similar) can fit, (This includes anything in the Precision camp w/ cast or billet compressor wheels) you'll definitely need to do some block grinding.
For example: Californiadad's Silver surfer build does not require any block grinding.

You'll need a To4b housing to avoid notching . Otherwise you're not making any compromises to fit the ac and not block notching
Yes, i got the "schedule 10 log manifold" that is AC/PS compatible. And crap, from what Mr.Spec just posted, i guess my choice would now be quite limited...? (AC/PS is a must, i'd like to retain as many stock component as possible)
Would the SC50 fits without grinding?

It just might be harder to find a turbo that uses a B cover if you don't have it custom made. Typically I see a lot more E and S covers than I do B covers on the mainstream market.

^ Yep that is because the B is a older style. However the shodan has proven these to be very effective on the correct setup. You just need to know where to find them and who to ask. I called Turbos Direct for a quote the Garrett GT3255B and they could not find it, I will be ordering one from theshodan once I have saved up of one.

Looking forward to getting car tuned soon

get off your *** and get a right angle grinder and notch the block.
not sure what people are thinking anymore when they dont make the necessary requirements to fit an AC compatible manifold/turbo setup
Such as? Please give an example of this statement, if you don't mind.
Sorry for the late reply. goal is easy to archive, 250-300whp, aiming for 250 pretty much. Everything stock, must keep AC/PS, which is why i chose the log style manifold (cheaper than ramhorn and works for what i need).
Man, i was thinking of grabbing this cheap turbo for my setup... but as the other stated, gotta skip the t04E...
It will be my summer DD, i do have a Honda Fit, so not worry about downtime hehe...

Even if you did get that piece of ****, you'd STILL be grinding the block, as that is a T04E compressor cover. So now you'd have to grind the block for a spinning door stop.. that's double the trouble over nothing.
With a Precision T3 4 bolt turbine housing (.63 a/r), and standard T04E comp. housing, I didn't have to notch my block at all with mine years ago. The turbo was an SC-3431E. Was a tight fit, much tighter than my B housing Borg Warner, but it cleared.
I don't know if Phil is still making them like his first design, I purchased mine in 2007. And of course, all manifolds are not gonna be precisely the same, fitment wise.

lol that is why I said ' was' going to get, until I saw I need to grind the block... hey shodan, got a suggestion turbo that is small enough to push about 30lbs/min? and that I don't need to grind my block? :-)
mentioning of cast manifolds and E cases, i just test fit the 5431e on an inline pro cast iron manifold and it just BARELY fits without grinding. we're talking about 1/4" of space between the black on turbo....maybe. 3/8"
GT3251b is 48lbs/min and is in t04B config shown below, but this one had additional coatings on it
