Default b18c exhaust

hey all new to the forum and have a quick question. just replaced my swapped b18c with another lower km b18c when i bought the car it had the whole exhaust already done (header 4-2-1, highflow cat and big fart can out the end. now when i got the car cert&e-tested my mechanic said i should consider going with the type r stock muffler, including saying that my car is super loud and super heat lol. its got a mean sound right now but it is overly loud. my question is this, with the big can am i losing back pressure? and will the type r muffler correct it and give me more hp? aswell how much quieter will the car be? thanks

backpressure is a myth. you want the least amount possible. honestly, for bolt ons, it doesn't matter.

straight through mufflers do not restrict flow. If you did all that work to the exhaust, what size pipe did you use? it would be a lot quieter with the stock muffler on, you wont loose too many horses. In my opinion, having the stock muffler is wayyy better than having a fart can. straight pipe all the way

you want a little backpressure for torque if its NA.Turbo is another story.

but lose the fartcan and find a real muffler. OE is fine, or magnaflow, or ____

Agree with this 100%. I fell victim to that myth for a while then I got thoroughly schooled.

3" is beneficial on all b-series h-series, and k-series, period. It is probably true for d-series too. You will gain power everywhere on the power band.

And about 40 decibels.

I'm satisfied with my Greddy Evo catback, CARB magniflow cat, and CARB DC header. I'm losing some torque with my cali legal parts, but that's life...
