Post engine redlines at 6K?

ok, this is my first time here but ill give it a shot. I recently bought a 92 civic si w/ a JDM D15B, recently my odometer isnt reading my speed which ill have to replace the speed sensor, & also vtec wont engage.but heres my question.. my car seems to redline at around 6K rpms. before the speed sensor went out i dont remember it redlining at 6K? not to sure. will the VSS cause it to redline lower? help a noob out. lol. i tried searching but im new to this, but no luck :/. any help would be greatly appreciated guys. thanks in advance..

no the vss wont lower your redline it will however cause vtec not to work. i would say that the cluster its self is to blame for your lower redline. it could also be your ignition system.

VSS code will cause VTEC to not operate and VTEC codes will cause your car to be in limp mode causing the lower RPM.
