lsv engine tech questions..
ive heard mixed reviews about crank gurdles... of course it happens after I buy one!!
so I just bought this golden eagle block gurdle, just the gurdle itself.
are these gurdles worth putting in or is it more of a hastle and waste of money?
reason for saying this is I called my local shop ( king motorsports unlimited), the receptionist at the front counter told me that im better off not runnin a block gurdle specifically for the fact that I will eat through bearings faster..
is this true? anyone have the golden eagle block gurdle in their lsv build?
is it more problematic then helpful? I bought it thinking it will help keep my main caps from taking too much abuse..now it sounds like its going to do the complete opposite and eat up my bearings..
any .02 cents would be appreciated!

First you'll need to remember that much like a ARP main stud or any girdle, it must be machined when installed. A line hone will need to be done with the girdle installed and torqued down as it may distort the main caps. This is the same process as done when using ARP main studs. A girdle does have great advantages as it spreads the load and is stronger as there are more anchoring points.
So in short when installed correctly, no that bitch be crazy...lol

lets just say i do get the block machined and the arps installed "correctly"..and I do swipe bottom end bearings..would I be able to re use the block gurdle and arps? or is it like a one time deal set-up?

Lol thanks man. 4 years of automotive schooling, several years in shops, and researching stuff about cars on the internet since I was 14. Too bad it was mainly DSM's and 240sx's I was researching, I could tell you ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you could ever need to know about a DSM and 4g63. Too bad I wasn't researching honda's since I was 14 because I would be a honda guru right now lol. I have only been into honda's for about a year now.
its like when you drink too much and smoke a blunt the morning after!
