Default Roll cage using mandre bends?

Hi, i dont know if that will works making a roll cage using mandrel bends since i haven't bender. this is what i was thinking about it, made a fast paint draw. hope it's clear what i means. should it works ok too?

i marked mandrel bend and you can see another tube in each bend as reinforcing bar.

Facepalm. First off, and I hate to nit pick but the bender for cages is a rotary draw (or a couple other styles), but most certainly not a mandrel bender. Just wanted to get that out of the way so you sound intelligent when referring to things like this in the future. Second, ms paint isn't going to convey any message to whoever you are going to have bend your stuff, and I'm sure you aren't caging a 32 ford which is what main hoop looks like it would fit.

If you want to have your stuff bent and do the rest yourself I suggest you go get some 1/4" round bar and do a template of your main hoop, exactly how you want it. Take it to someone and say I need this bent in (insert tubing size). They will know how to get the bends you need off your template. Your reinforcement bars are unnecessary in those locations, typically you would brace from the main hoop to the forward bars, not within the hoop itself. Hope this gets ya pointed in a better direction.

Just determine first why you want a half/full cage. If it's for the road, don't bother since that's just dangerous. If it's for sanctioned racing, get the rule book from the sanctioning body to determine what cage specs you need to follow. Don't design roll over protection yourself, have a fabricator experienced with roll cages... and if you can find one that specializes in the design of cage you need (drag, road race, drifting, etc), all the better!

I wouldn't think this is a good idea, its best to have a 1 piece bent. Look into JD2 bender and other cheap benders if you want to do it yourself.

Yeah those corners where the welds would be would fail when you needed them the most. Build your own bender http://pirate4x4.com/forum/ should have lots of plans for you. Or just buy the JD2 bender like already suggested.

"ProBender" is what I'm ordering this month. either the pro4 le, or the pro32. Vertical benders seem nice with a digital angle finder.
