Default Want to build motor. Need opinions.

Okay, so I came to the conclusion that I want to start building my own motor. I know of all the combinations and what not, but I want some of your opinions.

LSVtec
B20Vtec
H22

Which would give me the best performance results in my EF9. I know its vauge, but I want to start from the block and buy every part and build it up. I want to start looking for a block so I need opinions ASAP

I know LS vtec it involves you getting the vtec conversion kit for the head and what not. So that's just another thing to buy if you go that route. I don't know much about B20 vtec's but I had a H23 that I never got around to converting it to vtec. The H23 was strong as all get out. I loved the H23.....but from what I've heard about H series in a EF is the tranny and engine is really big in the bay so some people put a B series tranny on the H series motor. You can search it on Google it's like H2B or something like that. Hope this info helps a little

Turbo'd d16a6 with z6 head!

Just kidding. Are you focused on doing a hybrid setup (vtec head swap), Or are you open to other things? Whats your money limit?

First we need to know what your goals are. Dedicated autox/track car, DD/Track car, or just a DD? How much do you want to spend? An H22 with just a fresh rebuild, cams and hondata would rip and would be tons of fun for any DD. Also take your budget and multiply it by 1.2. That will likely be the actual cost of your build.

I'm building a ls vtec but I just want it for the street. I have the list of parts I need but my budget requires me to maybe make some short cuts. I have a b18b1 block with polished crank, new oem bearings, rear main, oil pump/water pump. I know I need the gsr oil pump waterpump and timing belt and I plan on geting the arp head bolts but is there any other need to build up the block if I don't plan on boost? I want it to be reliable but I just rebuilt my ls motor so I'm tryin to save a lil cash

Keep in mind H22 have FRM sleeves. No aftermarket pistons without sleeving the block unless you use Mahle's special one
