Realized a rattling coming from under the hood and then noticed this piece is loose. What is it and how should I go about fixing this?

 

It's just a heat shield for the alternator. You can check and make sure all the bolts are tight, and if they are, try to find out where it is contacting another part and bend it away (so it doesn't rattle anymore).

 

or just remove it...it's not absolutely necessary lol. but like Hawk said if you want to keep it just make sure the bolts are tight or find where it's hitting something else

The alternator is pretty close to the header, might want to keep it. It's not like your alternator is just going to fall apart, but the shield might help the internals last a bit longer.

 

Thx. I finally got the bolt in after some struggling. Tight squeeze for my hand


While I was under there, though, I noticed I was leaking a bit of oil... it looks like it's coming from right above my oil tank and beneath my oil filter.
What do I need to do to fix/ how much is it going to cost?
