Default Is my B18C1 timing belt on right?

Motor: B18C1

I just put this timing belt on by making sure the crank was at TDC as well as the two cams that were facing "UP" which snapped into that position however i noticed when it snapped into the "UP" position the two cam's lines on the inside did not perfectly line up. I did the correct amount of tension after turning the crank 4-6 times then loosen the tensioner and retighten after 3 teeth. Does this picture seem correct?

The cam timing looks slightly off but the picture gives no clue as to whether or not the crank pulley timing is correct.

there are lil eyes on the cam and lil holes in the cam to lock them in place to install the belt then all u have to do is set the crank. its very easy to do on a B series. the lines on the cam gears should line up together in the center.

I agree with ron. It's off, slightly.

the timing is off by a teet its not easy doing dohc timing but the best way to attack it is to put the intake cam a teet under the exh slack the tensioner line up the belt over the cams take a 12 spanner turn the intake cam it will take up what lil slack there is between the cams and lines up with the exh cam then thighten the tensioner

or invest in some cam clamps

thanks for the input, the crank pulley is at the TDC mark in the picture. I will do it over again and look for the holes in the cam holders to put the 5mm punch.

Happy Thanksgiving too!

you don't need cam clamps(over rated) all u need is two 10mm bolts to slide through the holes into the lil holes in the cams to lock the cams. doing timing on a B series is easier then a d series because u can lock the cams in tdc and just have to set the crank. put all the slack in the belt toward the intake side of the motor where the tensioner is and then tighten the tensioner down. its easy as pie

with the engine being out of the car. its best to take the lower timing cover off and crank pulley and line up the mark on the lower timing gear to the oil pump mark instead of using the timing cover to time it.

Cam timing does look a little off. Is your crank turned an ready to adjust the cam timing?
