Default Those with tech edge wideband diy or prebuilt.

I just got my pre-built model today, and was wondering where I should tap in for 13.2v power line that it needs, and also where to ground it, as I hear where you ground it is important to get accurate readings....

In other words where did you guys wire your power/ground in your cars?

Techedges says it should be connected close to be battery to prevent voltage drop. There is a built in voltage regulator, so you should be fine pretty much anywhere. Just make sure you dont supply more than 16v!

I don't remember exactly. Switched ground and power from the main relay. Power is blk/yel I think. I forget which one the ground is..... I used the helm manual.

So dustin you think I would be safe tapping straight off the battery? Put in a inline fuse or no? if so what amp fuse should I run.

Bump, Also wanna know if just grounding it anywhere on the chasis is a good idea.... gonna tap of a battery line for power.... but will it just drain power all day even when the car is off? Or can I install a switch for ground so I can turn it on whenever I want...

You have to have the O2 heater running any time the car is running, or else it will die in time...

So you will want to wire it to a switched ignition source. If you have your heart set on using the battery directly, wire a relay from the battery to power it and switch the relay on with ignition power.

So the general conscensus is.. wire it to the ECU? I have the helms so I can tap off the power wire and ground, but I want to make sure this sounds good before I do it.

Amen I have a helms also, I will wire it off the ecu, just let us know which wires to tap, also keep in mind I have a AFC wired up to a ground on the ecu, if that means anything.

I have the wideband, AVC-R, and J&S all wired to the ecu. Works fine.

Any chance do you know the section or page number in the helms that shows the details of what wire is what off the ecu? Having trouble finding it in the Fuel/Emissions section.... this book is awsome but sometimes impossible to find what you need :/

there are two yellow black wires going to the ECU that are switched 12v. (on a OBD-II car) I have a bunch of crap running off those in my car with no problem. Vtec controler, AVC-R , J&S etc..

Ok someone do me a favor and see if I'm right, I have helms for 98+ teg I'm ob2 and it seems by looking at the diagram I can use the A16 wire on the ecu.

My reasoning is it starts at the battery, goes through the ignition switch, then to the fuse for the FI E/M then onto the main relay, and ends at A16... Could I use this specific pin? I just wanna make sure whatever power line I tap from the ecu isen't constant meaning it will be on even when the car is off, only want it on when the car is on.

I wired it to a switched fuse socket under the dash, and that is where I tap power for all my gauges. I had no problems at all, and didn't have to mess with cutting wires to the ECU. Do you really want to do that? Just use a volt meter to find a good power lead.

Where do you guys mount your displays?

My question is is 11.74 volts enough for proper readings? As any fuse I got power from under the dash was 11.74 when car was in ON position (fuel pump, sunroof, few others)... perhaps the voltage goes up when the car is on?

Tech-edge recommends 13.2 volts MINUMUM for their units..

I was thinking of mounting the display where the clock is :D, rip out the guts of the clock and put it there if it will fit, like some guys do with the v1.

If your car isn't running, you may not see anything more than 12V. Once your motor is running, the voltage should be okay. I haven't had any problems.

Voltage is always lower when just using the battery. With the car running you will see > 12v.
