I'm running a y7 in my hatch mpfi with a y8 exhaust mani 99-00 one to be exact
Iv been having o2 issues with it
I'm still using the single wire o2 the wires have been checked no problem
The o2 in new but some times I get a cel CODE 1
My question is the y8 o2 bung sits right under the oil filter the a6/b2 sits right off the head
Will this cause the cel?
I do plan on converting to obd1 in the future will the four wire o2 cause the same problems?
I was thinking of swaping ecus (pm6) but before I spend the money id rather have a forsure answer
Thanks for any input advice

The one wire is close to the head for a reason - it has no heating element in it and relies on exhaust temperature to get in it's working range. You move it down stream and it throws the readings off because it doesn't get to operating temperature, thus throwing a CEL.
A 4 wire O2 sensor has a heating element so it's not effected by being moved downstream. An O2 that is placed more towards the collector gives a better reading of how the overall engine is operating, where an O2 just on one runner can't "speak" for the entire engine as a whole.
You can wire in a 4 (or 3 wire for that matter) wire just fine for now without converting to OBD-1 if you really needed to. They usually cost around $40 or so...
