Why do some strut tower bars mount in the stock location and some mount on the shock towers? What are the pro/cons of each location?

 

Like the neuspeed one, which dosent mount on the shock tower?

 

stock ITR, newer Mugen Bars, and spoon..just a few off the top of my head..

 

Stock ITR, Mugen Gen 2, Cusco, JIC and others : stock location
Spoon = shock tower

 

Hey i have the neuspeed one, it mounts in different places then all those. I dont know what the difference is either, but i sure would like to know

 

i wonder the same...... my car has the tanabe sus tec along with the oem. also has the tanabe sus tec in the rear.....

The difference in mounting points is moot.

Triangulation is something that makes a difference.

 

The thing that is unique (and what I really like) about the neuspeed is that it mounts to the bolts that hold the upper arm to the chassis. That must be the point of highest stress because it is the upper arm that is transmitting all the forces into the chassis, not the shock. The only bars that are better in my opinion are the ones that triangulate to the fire wall.
