you can use a distributor jumper harness, cut n solder on new distributor plugs or repin and match the wiring.

For tuning it is definitely worth it. The obd1 ls ecu is still a pr4 though.

You don't send an ECU out to get tuned.

ALL engines are different.
All of them... even if it's the same kind of engine they are still just a little different.
You hire a tuner and they tune your ECU to match your engine.

Just slapping a chip in or putting some random code in your ECU that was NOT tuned for your engine in your car is not going to give you the best results.
It might be 'close' (or might not be). Makes me laugh when people buy a Mugen chip off eBay and wonder why their car runs horrible.

That's just a bad/cheap chip as in the physical chip wore out.
To reiterate - take it a bit more extreme. Figure the Mugen B16 engine. All the internal work and the custom bolt-on's with 1000's of hours R&D for an engine -capable- of dishing out serious power.
Then they tune the fuel and ignition maps to extract the power from the engine and they they have it - the Mugen chip for the Mugen engine.

Putting that Mugen chip into a bone stock B16, or even a mildly built B16 is NOT going to give the same results that were made on the Mugen engine. different engine, different parts, requires different tune.

The "mugen chips" on eBay are normally a cheap replica of the real chips. The mugen chips come with a Basemap on them. The Basemap normally gets rid of the o2 sensor and turns up the fuel a lot the reasoning for this is so you can start your freshly built motor running and get it to a tuning shop without it blowing up. The basemaps aren't really made to be driven around on forever and if your buying them from eBay most of the time they are a single burn rom chip that can't be retuned later. That is just what I have learned about cheap tunes. Best way to tune the car is convert to obd1 and have an s300 put in any obd1 ecu like a p28 and then have that tuned for your motor.
