i bought it fooked up.... then i bought a head and had to get all my parts in line total labor was maybe a few hrs. i coulda slapped it all together in prly an hour but i took my time cause i got alot into head and cams.

Honestly i havent put any thought into tuning... im assuming it will run good on gsr ecu???? just trying to make it reliable with a hint of upgrade

What is your setup? A stock ecu is for a stock motor. I don't get why people can't seem to comprehend that.

Well i have a STOCK rebuild gsr head with type R dual valve springs and titanium retainers. paired with Stock type R cams. all ran on a Stock gsr ecu with Stock gsr intake manifold and stock b18c block.

I can comprehend that but its not like i built the motor and im playing step by step i had to put the motor together with a good head and the type r cams were a plus.
I dont care if i need some kind of tune but i will figure that out thats why im on honda tech, cause i dont know everything.

thanks for the tude tho

What tude?

So you can complain later why your car runs like ****? If you can't take an advice then try searching???

You may get lucky running the stock gsr ecu, but then again what do I know? Goodluck

You said i dont get why people cant seam to comprehend that like i cant comprehend the basics.

The guy i bought the head from is a well known honda tech from the area. He literally lives less than a mile from my home.

He gave me all my advice and said it should run fine with stock gsr ecu and set up. So im going with ill be fine. im great with taking advice i call him or read on here everytime i have a problem.

Give me all the advise you want just keep it real

Stock GS-R = stock GS-R ECU.

Stock ITR = stock ITR ECU.

You wouldn't run a stock NSX ECU in your GS-R! Anyways, I ran Blox A cams on a stock ECU for about a year while staying mostly out of VTEC. In my experience your knock sensor will prevent you from doing any damage with that cam, but it will also prevent you from seeing any gains at all. Because the difference in compression makes switching to a ITR ECU a bit sketchy, I would recommend you plan on some sort of custom tune.

I did a comp test and it was just under 240 across the board.... do you think type R ecu is out of the question?

compression wont have anything to do with ecu. No dyno tune, No significant gain. your car may be running lean and you wouldnt know it. Dyno tune will make maximum use of your mods otherwise your just wasting it.

I have been running a Spoon chipped OBDII P72 in my 97 GSR with ITR cams and valve springs since 2002. It has run at two ITR Expos with zero issues. I did it at the time because the chipping was far cheaper than buying an OBDI P72, conversion harness, and tuning.

I'm guessing that a bad fuel injector or bad valve adjustment resulted in the OP's problem. OP, run a compression test when you get this put back together.

When the motor was still in my integra I compression tested it and it was

Those are a thing of the past. LOL Now it is cost effective to tune it with OBD1.

I actually have the clone chip and surface soldered the 84 pin MCU.

So here I am back from the dead after months of title waiting.
I killed my Gsr chasis and made a 99 ex with auto trans into a Gsr swapped beast.

As far as tuning goes both people that I talked to that know there **** said a tune was not necessary. In my opinion it runs great without a tune

My gsr also runs great with itr cams unturned. AFRs are perfect and I ran low 14s in the quarter. Yes a tune will help a ton but its not required.

The issue with untuned ITR cams in a B18C1 is that the VTEC crossover is too low at 4400 RPM. There is a very noticeable torque hole from 4400 to 4800 RPM. Sure, it will pull to redline, but that midrange is affected.

I've never driven my car with gsr cams so I.don't know this torque hole you're talking.about.

I'm gonna see if I can find it on my way to work
I thought the manifold was to blame for the mid range torque curve I don't see why the cams would affect it
