Default 93 civic si engine question

Hello
I supposed all 93 Civic Si comes with a 1.6 sohc vtec engine, right?

Reason I asked is that I came across this stock 93 si and in fact it has a 1.5l sohc engine and owner claimed everything is stock and that is the stock engine as well

So my question is did all 93 civic come with a 1.6 sohc vtec or theres some exception that is equipped with a 1.5L?

Thanks in advance

let me put it this way, the engine i saw has a black valve cover and didnt say VTEC on it. So I guess the only way to verify is to look for the engine code/stamp D16Z6, right?

92-93 didn't have vtec on the Valve cover and were black, look for the vtec solenoid and block stamp

First verify the model is in fact, an Si:

- ***VIN number will start with 2HGEH3 instead of non-Si 2HGEH2*** (most important thing to look for)
- Factory power moonroof/sunroof
- Rear disc brakes
- Rear wiper
- Vertical striped seats (92/93 only)
- Factory cruise control
- Power mirrors

If the hatch has all of this then you can be sure it's an Si.

Now for the engine:

Every single USDM 92-95 Civic Si hatch was equipped with a D16Z6 engine from the factory. It was SOHC, 1.6L, VTEC, and always had a manual/5-speed transmission attached to it.

As someone else said earlier the 92-93 had a black valvecover with just the Honda "H" centered on it, while the 94-95 had a silver valvecover with raised "VTEC" centered on it.

If this hatch is an actual Si, and it has a 1.5L in it, then the engine has been SWAPPED - period. Don't by some BS abut it being a "special" or "limited" edition.

The biggest issue with a 1.5L swap, even if it has VTEC, is that you don't know what you're getting for sure.

It could be the D16Z6-equivalent "JDM ZC VTEC" that is 1.5L, but rated with similar hp.

It could also be a much less desirable VTEC-E engine with about 27hp LESS which is more like our 92hp VX engine.

If the seller stands firm that the engine is original then he's not being 100% honest, or he bought it like that and is ignorant to these facts.

Good luck. Post pics if you can.
