Default 98 civic motor help

im working on a 98 civic hx .. planning on swapping out the y5 for a y8 and im more than halfway done taking out the old motor .. took all the bell housing bolts out and the only thing left connected to the motor is the clutch lines to the tranny.. ok with that being said im trying to take out the motor without the tranny and the block just wont break free from the tranny .. i tried pushing in the clutch while someone tries pulling the block off the shaft but nothing is working .. at this point in time i do not have a cherry picker but friday i will have this much much needed tool to help .. any suggestions on how to get the block free from the tranny without taking out the tranny ... im def ttrying to keep my tranny in cause i just had an all wheel alignment done prob 2 days before i tore it apart

Should have thought about that before getting the alignment. The swap will MUCH easier if you take the transmission out with the engine. If it's not attached to the engine then you should have no issue.

well right before i started the motor i swapped out the rear trailing arms and put discs on .. but i hope i dont have to take everything back off and get another alignment .. but if thats the only way then that sucks .. but the block is loose from the tranny it just wont come fully off the shaft to come out ??

that would be a good idea other than the fact that i aint taking out the tranny .. the problem is i cant get the block completely free not how to take out the motor and if anything ill just lift the block over the top .. its only a y5 short block .. no head no water pipe etc

well if u wanna just pull the engine ur gonna have to take the crank pulley off and the alternator . and ur going to have to slide the motor 3 inches to the side before it comes out. ur best bet is to take the trans out too. putting it back in this way isnt going to work so well.
