Icon2 Mini me swap, the daily screw up

Hey guys,
So when i did my mini me swap I bent those two alignment hollow dowels all to hell trying to get the original head off the D16Y7. I figured that since i was using ARP headstuds I wouldn't bother replacing them. How stupid was I?

Also now i get a code that says "VTEC system malfunction" i figure i've got two wires crossed somewhere but what else might that be?
Thanks...

also i should point out that when your going along and you get to where vtec kicks in on a D16Y8 (5600 rpm or whatever) the car really shutters hard and the revs fluctuate up and down really quickly until you back off the throttle

The dowels are just there to help align the head gasket. I echo Hanmin.

Just pull the head and there's a jet between the 2 middle cylinders on the intake side of the motor. Screw a screw into the little jet, and pull it out with a good set of pliers.
