My SI has issue with speed sensor? (I am guessing.) speedo works rarely... I figure that is why my cruise control fails as well? I have read through these threads, and found someone else with similar issue, however I was unclear on the solution. Is it possible the connection is weak? Or more likely a faulty unit that needs replacing? Also, I believe I have other issues related to the sensor, such as, when in DRIVE my S3 light will come on and flash steady. Also check engine comes on after a few miles. These issues occur each time driven. It runs well, and I love my car. I would just like to correct these issues. I wonder if during engine replacement something was incorrectly placed or perhaps a different number engine was dropped in? I do not have the money for a shop to "fix" my old lude. But with any luck??? Someone here can help me out with some feed back! THANKS IN ADVANCE! -Jen

 

First of all Jen, you need to go to www.p r e l u d e p o w e r.com(no spaces) and register there, its the biggest online community for 88-91 Preludes with the most tech support and aftermarket support anyone on the planet, and thats not an exaggeration.

Hardly anyone on H-T knows much about this chassis, in here its mostly 92-2001 Preludes that get the support.

As to your situation its all related since you are obviously an automatic lude. The VSS sensor is what is broken and it needs to be replaced.

That is why you are getting a check engine light, and a flashing S3 light and it is why your speedometer is not working properly.
