cb7 sporatic idle and now radiator issue
Hey Im a new member and figured that from what I hear everyone seems to like this forum. So I hit it up. I have a 1990 accord lx 5spd that I have as a project and shes been running good for a while but for a while when I start it up the idle will go bonkers. (350-2500rpm) not sure whats going on. ?? next my cooling issue. Today i took, well tried to take my CB to the post office and didn't get very far. It started having the same symptoms as a blown radiator with the steam and all but no engine temp warn and no overheating of the motor. I also could not find the source of the steam so im not too sure where to start. The cold is setting in and I would very much not want to ride my kawasaki all winter long lol any help would be sweet

There is a lot of information here on IAVC and FITV components. Start there and see if it matches your symptoms. Also it could be ERG valve or Throttle Body issues.
These are all common early accord issues that have been written about by much more experienced and knowledgable members than myself, so I will leave you to their posts. The upshot is you will need to pull off the IAVC and FITV and give them some love and a good cleaning, while cleaning the ERG and TB of any gunk so they can operate effectively.
As for the steam, if you are not running hot (don't go by your dash gauge alone), then it sounds like a pin leak in a hose or a split under a clamp. Pressurized steam only takes a little volume to expand and put on a good show. A small leak will not initially effect overall engine temp; but needs to be found and fixed, before you get stuck with a blown hose. Corn starch is your friend here (or baby powder). A little dusting around the connections and on the hoses and go for a drive. Coolant is a sealed system, so should not have moisture leaks. If your corn starch gets wet or is washed off, then you have isolated the area for close inspection. The starch should not hurt anything in your engine and can be wiped off with a shop rag afterwards.
