hi, never work before with a moroso oil pan so i install one on my cousing eg
b18c1 turbo. I notice a drop from the bung in the return line when i disconnect the line to put teflon on the fitting. They start to spilling oil by
the bung, like one quart. My question is you can't have back flow by the return line so where's the aditional oil improve. If i wait to stop drain it makes
the normal oil qty.

When you disconnect the return line it's supost to not oil come out?

 

U need the pink or yellow tape in addition to some pro dope liquid sealant to seal a pipe thread. If it's a jic or an fitting then it goes on dry

 

yes, i use liquid teflon problem solve. But my question is this pan claim to
use 5 quarts but if i fill it complete, block the return line an the car start
smoke at idle.

 

yeah, that's not good. I have thought about getting one too, but haven't yet. My plan was to install a bung up right under the flange they have horrible placement.

 

Yes, thats definitive on the way a new bung below the turbo, but if i know this before i bought the small one $100 less and come with the baffle too,
that is the reason for buy it.

 

who in the world told you that was a 5qt pan? the $129 moroso pan is just over 4qts, something like 4-1/4. the reason you're smoking is probably this. they had a 5qt road race pan but that was a $300 fabbed aluminum unit

 

ok, my cousing bought this unit new part# 20910 MOROSO 5.5 quarts steel baffled race pan , here in P.R. $349.00. I said if i know we better buy the
small one for $100 less.

 

Full like adding the 5.5 quarts, or full according to the dipstick?

I have the normal size pan and have to run 1/2 quart low (between full and add 1 quart) or it smokes a little. They have very poor placement for the bung. I run a AFI Turbo mini ram manifold and have a -10 AN drain made from about 10 inches of braided Teflon hose and it bends a little tighter than I like and had to trim the line a couple times to get it to fit decent. If I were to do it again, I'd have just drilled a hole in an OEM pan so the drain could be at the top of the pan.

I think these pans had to have been meant for people with top mount turbos.

 

yes full at 5.5, but nothing i research and find most people run like 4.5 quarts
and this do the trick. As for the manifold we have a custom miniram that not
seat to low i eliminate the an fittings and modify two 45* barb fittings with
braided line. It's working great!!

 

I think to change the bung for the center the most higher i can. But only if
make troubles and for now is right.

 

isn't that weird? they really should put that in the instructions. i found out, like you, that the $129 pan runs best in the middle of the stick. if you fill to full all it does is soot up your bumper faster

 

try posting up a picture of the placement of the drain line to your turbo...if yours is like my ramhorn setup, the the turbo sits low & the compressor (Inlet) is mounted on the driver side... make sure there is no kink in the line & it flows with gravity stright down to the pan...


And yes these were very likely designed for top mount applications as the chosen bung placement sits far away from were most log, ramhorn, & mini ram turbo mounts will line up..

 

Stock oil pan with a bung welded as close to the flange as possible or use a turbo drain back fitting like i use, no welding needed just three holes drilled and a gasket and high temp rtv and two bolts, nuts locking washers FTW. been leak free with that setup for 5 years
