Default EG6 Cluster swap, Nothing wrong. That's the wierd part!

Hey guys so I have a EJ1 with a lsvtec swap in it tuned on Hondata S200. When I did the swap I also converted it from an auto to a manual which meant that I swapped in a manual cluster.

Now heres the wierd part. For as long as I can remember the car throws a check engine light usually after exiting the freeway and letting off the throttle. I can turn the car off and back on and its gone and won't come back for the rest of the drivei and It won't give me a code either which I find strange ( I assumed it was my Hondata rom) and had it updated but still continued to keep doing it. Be that as it may I had the cluster in there for about 2.5-3 years.. Just last week I swapped the JDM EG6 cluster in and everything is dandy.

All of the cluster lights up fine and its completely functional except for one thing. My check engine light won't turn on like It did before. It only comes on like normal when I put the key in and turn on all the electronics. Now my question is.... What's up??!

Does this sound like it might have been a cluster issue? Given there was never an actual code and it always happened after about 10-15 mins I never understood this. My commute never changes and it happened always around the same time. Secondly, would a JDM cluster read any differently than a USDM Cluster?

I'd like to believe not but thought I'd ask for a better piece of mind. Thanks in advance!

Also if you have ABS and are unable to plug the wire into the cluster to that activates the CEL would this disable the abs at all, or conflict with it? There was about 2 harnesses I had to leave out..

I had cruise control
I have ABS

These two were probably what the harnesses were for. At least I know the ABS was.

Hm. Old cluster-problem. New cluster-no problems. Sounds like you answered your own question.

It's just weird though. In over 12 years of working with Honda's I've never heard of a cel tripping like this. I've heard of needles going bad, and certain gauges not working but this is a first.

I guess I'm not used to problems fixing themselves either lol. I sort of gave up on it and ignored the thing after a while.
