stripped out the oilpan on my d16y8.
the stock plug doesn't grab very much. i can get it to grab a little.
went to oriellys and got an oversized one. i couldn't really get it started. do i just need to push really hard? what have you guys heard/done?
the only other plug they recommended there was a stock one that was a little longer.
any help is appreciated. quick replies would be great
if any additional information is needed, ask.
i'm currently searching for what others have done.

umm change ur oilpan or rap the oilpan for the thread that the plug is made for

don't wanna buy a new oilpan. i know there's a better/cheaper way.
and what do you mean wrap the oilpan for the thread?
so far i'm thinking just taking the oilpan off and and tapping a bolt in.
mainly i wanna figure out how to get this oversized bolt in because that'd be the easiest and best way i believe

I had the same problem recently.. I tried the oversized plugs from pepboys. It works up until I have to change my oil again. They're cheap quality, comes with cheap plastic washers. End up ordering a pan of ebay and replacing the entire pan. You can always re-tap your old oil pan and reselling it.

well i just bought one of these rubber plugs. you wiggle it in the oilpan hole and then tighten a wingnut and it seals it up. i'm about to go put it in. $4 from autozone. i'll let you guys know how that goes.
then on my next oil change i plan to re-thread it.

i would just tap it for a size bigger and use the bigger plug, i doubt that rubber plug will last long with that much heat on it and oil etc

good luck when you're squirting out oil from your oil pan and you want to leak oil like crazy just because you don't want to get a new pan its like 10 dollars at the junkyard and you would be able to replace your oilpan gasket but do whatever is your choice but when your oil pressure light comes on dont ask the question WHY

honda's get stripped very fast around here at junkyards. i may have to do some traveling to go get an oilpan. but i may just fix this one. but it's definitely not a permanent fix. i got the rubber plug in there pretty tight however.
and i wouldn't ask the question WHY if my oil pressure light came on. it'd be kind of obvious what the problem was.
