noise while i turn my steering wheel left.
I lowered my 1997 Civic coup on some function and form type 1s a couple of days ago. I noticed today that when i turn the steering wheel to the left, it makes some weird squeaky noise. like a whistle almost. Anyways i thought it might have been the power steering, but i put my key on the ignition and turn the wheel while the car isnt on, and i still hear the noise. it sounds like metal rubbing or something. I was wondering if someone possibly knows what this is? its kind of scaring me. thanks.

sounds to me your to low. your tire is rubbing your fender is what it sounds like so cut ur wheel to where it starts squeaking and go feel your tire to your fender and see if it rubs.
Indeed. If it happens even when your not driving the tire is rubbing against something. Just get under there and look around make sure you are clearing everything.
thanks guys, ill check it out tomorrow in the morning, it does seem too low. lol. ill keep you guys updated on what it turned out to be.
You guys be the judge and tell me if this is too low? by the way, my fenders aren't rolled in... and almost every speed bump scrapes. but i seen lower.. lol

If you are going to slam your car you are probably going to want to roll your fenders. Isn't it kind of obvious? You said that it scrapes on every speed bump so why wouldn't it scrape when the weight shifts?
its prob the inside tires rubbing against the wall of your fenders if u take off your wheel off on the passenger side and look there is prob a shinny spot where your tire rub'd
Have you figured out what's the exact problem yet?
I'm having a similar problem. I even jacked my left side up but found nothing squeaking until my car is back down with the wheel on.
Mine doesn't scrape though when i go over speed bumps lol

Yup, i raised my car up about 4 threads in the front, and 7 in the back. It was too low. lol. i suggest you raise your car up a tad bit too. or get your fenders rolled in haha.
UPDATE - Ok, so i raised my car up a little bit and the NOISE IS GONE!!! hahaha thank you all for helping me figure out the problem. I will post up a pic of my car tomorow if i get a chance so you guys can see the difference haha. I raised it till fender meets tire.
May next guess would be maybe a bad wheel bearing. Jack up the front of the car and try and wiggle the tire back and fourth. It shouldnt move hardly at all if at all. If it cleary moves or it clicks then your wheel bearing is bad.
When I tried spinning the wheel with the car jacked up and wheel off. It was very hard to spin. Idk if that's bad or anything.
I seriously think it's my coilovers or tires rubbing something.
