A buddy of mine is having a problem with his s2k.. .it is stock has about 90 k on it and it sounds like there is gerbil in the front of the valvecover banging around with a wrench! He just replaced the timing chain tensioner and it is still doing it! He claims valves were adjusted as well but im going to redo that.. but it sounds wayy to loud to be a valve adjustment and it sounds likes its more in the front.
I would tell him to stop driving it till it gets looked at. I would also have him explain every step he did to you, so you have the proper infomation. (also ask if he keeps up with the oil changes) Was the noise the same as before did it get worse. I would also check the timing chain gaurd. Without a video of the sound or pic it hard to say for sure.

it happens as soon as you start it. It is pretty loud and it is on the top end.. it is not a bearing... Im thinking timing chain parts related... sounds like a damn diesel truck
