Default Swapping AC into a non-ac Car

Hey guys,

I ripped my A/C out of my 95 obd1 DC 2 weeks ago. I found a buyer, and he also has an 94 OBD1 dc. He has the black button delete on the climate control, and the NON-ac evaporator under the dash.

I am wondering, how Do I change his climate control to support the AC button? Should I swap him climate controls? (I really dont want to.... Sticking that wire thing back in is a HUGE pain)

Also, I am hoping that the teg is prewired behind the climate control to support ac? I know even non-ac Tegs had the open-ended harness by the RAD to just plug it in.

Is there anything else I need to swap? So far my current parts list is:

High and low pressure lines
Condenser
Compressor
Receiver / Drier
Condenser fan
Wiring harness
Evaporator (Still in my car, swapping his non-ac evap)
A/C button on climate control (Still in my car, how do I swap his black delete button).

Thanks guys! FCM, I'm waiting for you to jump on this, I saw all your other replies on the a/c threads

so his car came from the factory with no a/c? if so then you need to see if the car is prewired for a/c cause i dont know if it is. if it prewired you need to runn all the lines install all the parts, and he may need the bracket the a/c compressor was intalled on as well. also make sure there is a condensation drain hole on his car below the evaporator.

DC tegs had a/c as an option, mine had it, his didnt
Beside his rad, he has an open-ended ac harness plug, it just goes in there
AC compressor goes on the left lower torque mount, so that will work, he has one
evaporator comes with condensation drain hole.

I'm just wondering if the climate control unit can just have its delete button replaced with the a/c button, and have it work.... :O ?

then yea it should work if you remove remove the delete button and plug in the climate control unit. honda wouldnt make 2 different trim pieces mounts where the a/c unit goes if a car wasnt going to have a/c, easer to make just one kind and put a delete panel on it. make sure theres an electrical connection where the reciever drier goes to.

you just just be able to pop it out from the front with a 90 degree pick, or worst case get access behind it and help remove it

Should be plug and play, make sure you get everything out of your car...

The A/C switch is there, it is just the cover of the switch you need to change, he gets your A/C switch button cover, you get his delete/stop cover, the deleat cover can even be modified, [stop cut away] so it will work, it should just pop off with your fingers

It's the little things that will get you, him if he does not have them. 94

On most vehicles the contro head( the piece that controls your hvac functions) is different for a/c and non a/c cars. Found this link to help you remove yours. Appears the wires may be there for his car. Now for the whole a/c system he will need everything from yours, lines, mounts, relays, switches, etc. It may be a simple plug and play swap because Honda/Acura usually are ahead of other manufactors, but most vehicles didn't start until around 2000 making vehicles a/c ready that didn't come factory with it.

Yes, "No wai!!!!" the switch is there, you need to replace the cover with the button that says AC, I popped the cover off the one in my 94 Integra and found the switch under it, I have another control head out of one with AC I will see if that cover also just pops off. 94

Awsome! Yeah let me know what you find out. So far, I understand I will just take his little black cover that slides over his a/c button and put it over mine? Is that what Im hearing? Or do I have to pop it off..

Also, any comments regarding swapping into an OBD2 type R. Another friend is interested, and wondering just in case. Thanks HT

Ok, to conclude this thread:

All integras come prewired for A/C. The black delete button pops off with a flathead, and an A/C button can be put on it. As soon as this happens, you can press the A/C and it will light up just like any of the other climate control buttons.

Also, the harness for the A/C unit is in the bay by the radiator (on the passenger side). There is a white harness delete plug that can be removed, and the A/C unit can be installed. This harness is connected to the a/c button inside the car

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious!

Also, the ENTIRE A/C unit (including hoses, lines, condenser, compressor, receiver, fan) IS IDENTICAL IN ALL 94-01 INTEGRAS.

The only difference, is the EVAPORATOR UNIT (Under the dash), this follows the BODY STYLE, NOT the OBD

1994-1997 has this evap

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...iagram&count=0

1998-2001 has this evap

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...s=&view=normal

Whether or not they are interchangable, I will find out this weekend. I am swapping AC from a 95, into a 2000 Type R.

So in short, any A/C unit can be installed in ANY teg, but if the under-dash evaporator is ALSO being swapped, 94-97 and 98-01 are different! I Believe they will function identically, but this will be confirmed this weekend.
