Default Trying to be different Non vtec SiR-G turbo

Got a smoking deal on a SiR-G short block Darton sleeved 84mm bore Eagle Crank Eagle rods Cp 9:1 pistons im wondering if it really matters if i throw a vtec head on. Reason is i have a flow benched ported crower spring and retainer with crane turbo cammed ls head its fresh has skunk 2 intake 70mm tb. My gsr head is stock just valve job thats it. I know everyone has a vtec vs. non opinion i prefer non myself. If im only shooting for 550-600whp does it matter? I have a Precision 6262 drag log manifold 3" dp hondata.

My b20 in my crx currently is in the 11s but its stock rods and bolts nippon pistons oem hg with that built head on it i dont want it to come apart its inevitable. Im at 15 degrees timing and 11.1 afrs on e85 yes i realize thats retarded rich and no timing i tuned conservative. In my opinion my SiR-G is exactly the same as my b20 just forged obviously u vtec faithful may think its blasphemy to each their own. I cant believe how much the short block costs to get done. ive been goin fast (enough) lOl for years on oem engines with studs.

Vtec at the end of the is just the ability to switch between two different cam profiles, one geared towards to gas mileage and driveablity the other high rpm performance,so throwing the first two out the window being a highly modified platform,it all comes down to flow.I dont know timing belt you would use seeing as how the non vtec head is shorter. i did see something like this done with a ls head and b16 bottom end a while back tho.

if you have both heads, put the Vtec head on.... bottom line, flows better from the get-go and it makes the timing belt issue easier (unless ofcourse u just want to make it difficult on yourself). 600whp is def possible with ls head, but a whole lot more?? prob not.

It's your car do what you want, but I would run a Vtec head.

Blah Blah everyones a hater, plenty of people making good power on non vtecs. I personally ran both yes vtec makes more power per psi boost on a given turbo setup. But that doesnt mean just completely rule out nonvtec geez people.

if you plan on running cams in the ls head you should absolutly run a gsr timign belt and water pump, the stock 19tooth water pump over 7200 ropm cavitates the crap out of the coolant and you will get false overheating conditions and hot spots on the sleeves and in the head.

if you want to know more on cam choice and other options you have with the non vtec Pm me

ls has 31mm intake valves...vtec has 33mm intake valves...a valvejob and itr cams and the ls head wont keep up....even the ls rockers are not desigh for high rpms like the vtec rockers...anything over 300whp wants to rev to 9500....

Slap the LS head on and go then.... your mind seems to be already made up in that pathway anyway.... You stated that you already have BOTH heads correct? so we are just looking at your situation objectivly..... so go with what you want (LS head) and see what she does. Bottom line, your built LS head is going to flow more than the VTEC head (its all stock right?) but as soon as you put a set of cams and a mild valve/ port job on the vtec head.. its going to out-flow the non-vtec head very quickly.

Also wondering what turbo to use i have holset h1c and precision 5252e billet wheel stage 5

Might just run the non vtec temporary see what it makes and if not what i want ill build a vtec head. I was looking at blox for full head package.

ditch the log manifold and you can make 600 with E85 or race gas if your head already has work done.

The biggest advantage is the 33mm intake valves. A PR8 with the right cams will come damn close I think. I'll do it eventually and post dynos.

Already made over 500whp on pump gas with my setup on a stock ported Pr4 head but it took alot of boost. And no I did not rev past 8500 to do that.

Ya im no expert and fyi i didnt buy my full race bc they said so haha.
Ive made plenty of power multiple different engines i like the drag manifolds

Only thing i could say is the runner length and velocity would be better on a tubular
It may be just like a vtec vs. Non vtec arguement tho lol
