Default Car stars then dies

HEy guys. my car has come up with a recent problem. It would start but then die immediatly unless i rev it and hold it for like 5secs. Since I hadn't replace the spark plugs for while, I did so (plugs and wires). But it still started and died. There was some oil in the spark plug area, and I've replaced the grommets for the the spark plugs , and the same issue persited. The car has a new dizzy from a 95gsr (I have a b16a) and I only recently had this problem. The fuel primes prestart up so I'm stumped. When I look the issue on Honda-Tech the usually said to replace the main relay, the ignitor in the dizzy(but since mines like a month old i dont know), a clogged cat, or a dirty fuel filter. Any advice on where to tackle first?

Sounds like a low idle problem. Any CEL codes?

Will the engine stay running after it is fully warmed up? Does the engine run fine while driving?

I'm running an OBD0, so Im not sure of any codes. The enginer stays fine once its warmed up and it runs fine when its driving. Only once a week ago I was going uphill and the engine cut off. So I had to pull over and start it.

What car? There's a red LED light on the OBD0 ECU that blinks the CEL codes when the key is turned to ON(II).

could be a possible blown head gasket, do a compression test and give us back your readings.

check codes on the ecu.

also if you running obd0 you should post in the correct channel, probably get a better response.

I first questioned that, but there wasn't a tear or hole in the head gasket, and no air an noise from the area of the gasket.

It's a EH hatch 94' with a JDM B16A obd0. the weird thign is, I only get a CEL after i drive for a a bit, I guess when I rev the car high (4-6) or when vtec hits. But I've always had that problem, even before the start up problem.

Read the code. Reset the ECU. Drive the car and, if the CEL turns on, pull the code again to see if the same code is thrown. Post any codes that repeat.

Clean the IACV and FITV.

That isn't my concern although the help is great appricated. I just want to fix the problem as to why it starts up and dies immediately....

Are you assuming that the CEL is unrelated to your problem? If so, you may be wrong.

Not to be rude, but I'm not sure if its related or not. The CEL problem has been occuring over a long time, while the start up problem has been only for the past week or so. can you tell me how they might be related?

Potential relationship ---> A problem that you have ignored is now worsening.

It's on the top, there's a clear plastic circle that a red LED flashes through.

My "atmospheric sensor" on my D15 was unplugged and it did this...but I don't think you're dpfi anymore.

Did you change the ignition/mechanical timing at all?
