I have a 93 Integra DA that has a JDM b16A motor in it. It doesnt want to start anymore. I took it to the shop and they said it was the starter. Replaced the starter and it still doesnt start. Car doesn't start unless you push start it. What could it be? HELP PLEASE!!!

 

So the car runs if you bump start it, [push start]. if you have a 12V test light and a jumper you can diagnose the problem pretty simply...

does it crank over? if it doesnt , its probably you clutch safely switch not being engage. check if your clutch pedal still has the rubber stopper

 

Nope. it doesnt even turn over. No crank no nothing.

 

Flywheel. If you replaced the starter then it's the flywheel

 

What?!!! That would sukk assss. All my light n everything works. Just wont crank. Just a click then thats it.

 

did you check the clutch switch and the clutch pedal for the rubber to that engages the clutch switch

 

No idea what i would be looking for. Lol

 

you see the clutch switch(has a yellow connector) on the picture. make sure that rubber stopper is on the pedal. they tend to rot out and fall out. if its not there, you can either buy a new one or unbolt the switch and tape the trigger down til you get a new one

Do the test I linked you to, it will tell you if the problem is the starter or wiring before the starter, [ign. switch, CIS, starter relay or wiring between them].

All the above are common problems on older Honda/Acura, the liked test is easy to do and it will narrow down where the problem is. 94

im putting my money its the clutch pedal missing hte rubber stopper to engage the clutch switch.....

you lay on the floor and look up with a flashlight. just follow the clutch pedal up til you find a switch

What do you mean, that makes no sence at all.

The test light "test", [testing "low" current starter circuit] is the only one that a light "turns on".
And if it does, then it is unlikely there is anything wrong with the ign. switch, CIS, starter relay or wiring.

The other test is a bypass jump, it tests the "high" current starter circuit along with the starter motor and starter motor solenoid, there is no light to come on, the engine will crank or it will not. 94

 

Ok, so how do you bypass it again? Lol,sorry. Im a noob to this stuff.

 

if he cant or havnt even check to see if its the clutch neutral switch yet. i doubt hes going to know how to do the test light check

 

make sure the ground cables are in place. if they arent the started will not crank

 

I checked the ground wire where it connects to the bottom right of the valve cover to tue front engine bay. Thats the only ground wire that i know of.

 

The link I posted tells/shows you how to do a bypass jump, there are pictures to make it as easy to understand as possible.

The same goes for the starter circuit test, explained with pictures.
You say it lights up your test light, so start circuit must be good

I do not know how to explain it any easier way.

There is a grand from the chassis to the engine, [transaxle] you will need to remove the batt. fallow the batt. neg.(-) cable to the chassis ground point and then from the chassis ground point to the engine.
Make sure both those two ground points are good, but before you do that, try the bypass jump, if the bypass jump does not work then check, [redo] the grounds and try the bypass jump again, if still not working the starter motor or starter solenoid is bad.
