Default HELP! LS/VTEC or new B18?

Well my ls head is done for so I'm trying to make this decision.
I know a guy with 5 GSR heads for $450 a piece. But then my buddy has a full B18a1 with YS1 trans for $500.

So I either do ls/vtec or cammed b18 like before... Opinions?

I know I already posted this in the acura integra section but not everyone on HT drives one, or goes into that section.

LOL that's what I was thinking, but I found a GSR head complete with valve cover, intake manifold, throttle body, and ARP's for a STEAL of a price, so I couldn't pass it up lol I'm going to be doing valves/springs, with GSR pistons, shotpeened rods, ARP rod bolts, and ACL bearings. And putting in a new clutch while I have the motor out. This way, I can make sure EVERYTHING is actually in spec, and know it's done right!

they say ls/vtec is limited in the revs unless you do a really good job on lower end. i would say thats not gonna be cheap also lets face it the b18 nons are much more reliable. also you really have to pair it up with a gsr or b16 tranny otherwise its just stupid. so in reality its a matter of how crazy you want to get with it. i would say the 500 dollar route is a clean cut deal. i also have a kid and need to get to work everyday lol

Well I calculated it, and everything that I need to build the bottom end, including new valves/guides, clutch, and ys1 trans, in the ballpark of $900, which I don't mind spending because I have weekly payments coming in from a guy paying off my DSM turbo setup, he still has $850 left to pay off before I ship it. And he is also buying my old dsm motor/trans setup.

i pulled the head off my gsr and it had a hunk out of a valve. im buying the head and puttin it back together. the block and pistons are still in nice shape so i think it will be a pretty good runner

Selling the rebuilt bottom end (pistons/rings/bearings) for only $150 because I have had it for over a year trying to sell it and no bites. This guy is coming to clean out my garage of almost all my stock dsm parts lol Other than my $1,300 turbo setup.

Yea and the fact that the b18 motor I would have been buying is from the guy who sold me the fubar'd "rebuilt" ls head in the first place.

Hi, I'm new to HT and this is my first post, I've seen a bunch of LS-tec's and I've had a few builds myself(My brother and I have a garage and we do work for , mostly stock rebuild with itr pistons with a quick head rebuild , but right now I'm working on an LS-Vtec for my 89 hatch.
The bottom end has so far:
    95 GSR Head
im also running an ls trans with carbon synchros 1st through 5th

seems like its going to be a powerful and reliable build to me, does anybody see any issues i might run into? or something i might have forgotten. Your build sounds pretty legit and affordable
