Wanna drop the compression? Get a thicker headgasket

This is a pretty specific question... Not a lot of people run poor-man type R builds with PCT pistons

get p30's instead. much safer compression without the massive dome.

First of all

Second, shaving cast pistons sounds like a great alternative to buying the correct parts to achieve what you want. Go for it. What could possibly go wrong?

Third, why isn't this in either the tech/misc, all motor, or even hybrid forums instead of here?

SORRY ABOout THE CAPS I DiDNT KNOTICE....
my little brother is the one doing it but hes on the broke side he bought the block with the pistons....
the macine shop said $45 for it all machining and blancing he will be running on e85 daily have station 3miles from house

the reason i asked about the shaving is becouse the guy at the machine shop offered us this option when we were picking up the head from being resurfaced.....

it thought the same thing as you guys why not just get a thicker head gasket but he mentioned that this way you can reduce the weight of the ctr piston at the same time while reducing the weight.....

you have to also think your going to be making the piston top thickness thinner and more of a chance to blow a hole in the piston if something were to happen.

I wouldn't do it with cast pistons. They were cast with that thickness for a reason, once you start removing material you're playing with fire. Get a thicker head gasket or tune it for that compression and gas you want to use.

a cast piston is a cast piston, look for some itr pistons or maybe just go forged.
