Icon2 92' eg Brake Bleeding

I got a 92 eg and just put on overhauled the braking system;

new steel braided brake lines
new all 4 OEM calipers and pads
new slotted and drilled rotors
and did a drum to disc convertion off a 94 civic ex

Now I bled the brakes and the brake pedal felt firm but when i turn the car on the brakes went alot softer. my question is Do I have to bleed the brakes when the car is on???

You may need to bench bleed your master cylinder if you let the fluid level get too low.

No, you do not have to have the vehicle running. Is you pedal coming close to bottoming when running?

Ya when the car is running the pedal does indeed come close to bottoming. It makes me think i didnt bleed them enough?? but when i did bleed the brakes i did it till i didnt see any more bubbles.
When i did the rear disk conv. one thing i didnt do was upgrade the Master cylinder or the Proportioning valve. Some ppl said i didnt need to upgrade some ppl said i had to upgrade and some people said just upgrade the pp valve. So i got confused of what i had to or didnt have to upgrade and stuck with my eg pp valve and MC. (upgrade meaning getting those parts from a 4 disk brake car like the 94 civic ex where my rear conv. came from).
What made me think more that i didnt have to change those parts was when i had my gf working the brake pedal in between me bleeding the brakes. I saw all 4 calipers moving but the back ones didnt move as much as the front i thought prob. due to size of the caliper. My bleeding pattern was RR,RL,RF,LF hopfully I got that pattern right.

Im lost on why the pedal gets close to bottoming when the car is on and now when the car is off the pedal feels less firm. Im now looking into how to bench bleed the MC on Youtube as the one guy said i may have to do. Im also starting to think i have to at least get a upgraded non-ABS pp valve or MC or both?? this is my first time doing any kind of brake job/rear conv. so im open to any suggestions/help

When you open the lines that far from the calipers, you allow a lot of air into them. I would bleed again with a friend and cycle between pumping and bleeding as quickly as possible to push the air along and prevent it from rising again. Bench bleeding the MC is not a bad idea either.

Definitely make sure they are properly bled like other posters suggested. If that doesn't do it I'd look into the MC. There is a chance that when bleeding the brakes you messed up the seals in the MC. This explains it way better than I can: http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/maste...ace/index.html
