Just like the title states…i just assembled my head and block and now im putting crower cams on my ls head…but i cant keep the cams at tdc when i torque down the cam caps, they just keep moving out of tdc. Can i rotate the cams by hand or do i need a special tool? Any helps appreciated

Just torque the cams down and rotate them to TDC after. There should be two markers on the cam gears that you can line up to each other. It should be easy enough to turn them with the cam gear bolt. It might also help to back out the valve adjustment screws first.

Make sure the crank is also at TDC and follow the manual for installing the timing belt.

It's a challenge, because the cams want to turn one way or the other due to spring/follower pressure on the lobes... I did it in a 63413 recently.

Follow the published sequence (crank, idler, water, intake, exhaust) but you might have to put a wrench on the nut at the end with the cam gear to keep it from turning on you.

It's easier with another person to hold it while you're slipping the belt over the gear.

I'm not understanding this. It doesn't matter about the cams position till it's time to put the belt on. Just lay the cams down in the journals and tighten down the caps in the proper sequence. Once that's done you just line up the timing marks and re install your belt. There's also a hole in each cam "oem for sure not sure about aftermarket" that you can use a 5mm punch to lock it in place while doing the timing belt. I always work by myself and have never had any issues with setting timing on any of my engines.
