Who owns 98-589? Possible scam
I came across a 98 FS ad (it's been taken down now). 38K miles for $3,500 and the seller identified herself as a divorced woman who has no need for the car. Photos showed that it was 98-589 with stock appearance, except lowered and red JDM Recaros.
When I inquired about the car, this is what she said:
"i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls are restricted. Because of my job I can't meet anyone to show the car. I had pre-arranged the deal with eBay so my presence is not necessary , the car is in their possession ready to be delivered. eBay will handle this transaction for me. The car is insured in case of damage and it takes 3 days to be delivered at your door. It will come with all the necessary paperwork (clear title, bill of sale, user's manual, insurance etc). You will receive all the original documents and keys with the car. I signed all the paperwork and the clear title is ready to be transferred to the new owner.
Please get back to me with your full name, full address so i can forward your details to eBay in order for you to receive the invoice regarding the terms and conditions of this transaction."
The phone number she provided in the ad belongs to a fax number of a church in Chicago. I decided to troll it through, and all she asked was my full name, address and phone number. She said the car is currently in Ft Lauderdale and I told her I would be there to look at it in person. She refused and continued to ask for my personal info.
Just checking to see if anyone here actually owns (or owned) this car. She also provided me with the VIN#, but I don't want to post it here in case it had any negative effect on the actual owner of the car.

This is definitely a scam guys, don't believe for a minute that someone is selling an ITR for that price. My R was one the latest that was being displayed as the vehicle for sale / scam.
The douche was using the same pictures that were used in the for sale post here on H-T as
the pictures for their scam. I was notified by several people who were aware of this and said similar stories were given when inquiring about the car. All stories similar in that the car was part of a divorce settlement and work, which was a line of work that required them to travel & or be on the constant move thus, kept them from showing the car in person. One story was that the seller was in the military and about to deploy and that was the reason for selling so cheap. Another was that the seller was an airline stewardess and didn't have use for it and work wouldn't allow a meeting to show the car. This scumbag used my vehicle on three different websites which weren't up for long. We were about to notify the FBI but then the ads were taken down and haven't seen my car used in any since.
This jackass is using pictures and information from vehicles that at one time were for sale on websites like this one and posting them as their own, hoping that a gullible buyer will fall for this scam. You can google ITR divorce scam and or the number of the itr that is used in the ad and see this shady scam and the responses that people got when they inquired about each.
Bottom line is that sellers should be prudent when listing details about the car I.E. vin# etc..
and once sold should remove the ads so scammers don't use the content for crap like this.
It's a bullshit & noone is going to come across an ITR for a price like that and I hope that someone has more sense than to fall for something like this. I'm getting pissed off all over again lol. I hope this cockknocka gets busted.

Thanks for the prompt response.. I am ready to buying it now as a gift for my Great Father. I am at sea at the moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want the car to be a surprise for my father so i wont let him know anything about the car until it gets delivered to him, i am sure he will be more than happy with the car. I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your paypal email address and the price so i can make the payments asap for the car and pls if you don't have paypal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to http://www.paypal.com.au and get it set up, after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with paypal so as to put the money through. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick the car up after i have made the payments...
