In my car, the shift **** simply threaded off counter clockwise.

Seriously. Just continue twisting it. Counter-clock wise to remove. Clock wise to install.

If your new **** isn't threaded inside like the stock one, DON"T INSTALL IT (take it back). No matter what you do, the **** will never stay straight.

And yes your old **** just screws off. It's hard to turn at first, and it takes a LOOOOnnnggg time for it to come off. But it will.

If you bought one of those universal ***** with the sleeves, or whatever they're called, and the allen head screws it doesn't screw on. The NRG **** I have doesn't and every once in a while I have to tighten this particular one down that sometimes works itself loose.

I picked up a blox neo type r one. I did eventually get the stock one off. It was held on with lock tight.... Dang previous owner lol. New one fits perfect and looks sick! Heres a link to the one i bought.
