Have a 1998 honda prelude sh.. swapped in a 98 sir sh h22a put the us harness and dizzy on and have the jdm ecu for it. Car has no spark and throws a tdc code (code 8) there is no place on the oil pump to put a crank sensor being that its a jdm engine. I am using a us external coil set for a dizzy on the car.. im wondering does the jdm dizzy have a tdc pick up in the dizzy? would this cause me to get no spark? and i deas on the no spark issue would be very helpful!
All parts came off the old usdm engine and were in running condition 2 days ago....
thanks

I think the OBD2 us preludes have the TDC sensors on the oil pump, not the distributor. So it sounds like the ecu needs a TDC signal. If the engine you have doesn't have the sensor on the oil pump, then it's probably on the distributor (unless that has been swapped out for some reason).

damn just my luck.. i just assumed they all had another pick up in the dizzy and the jdm engine read off that only but looks like they only had one from dizzy on jdm and from crank on usdm and my set up currently has neither lol.... no way to pin a obd1 ecu to work since it has a tdc pick up? i really dont want to wait on shipping for oil pump but will do that if no other options are available.

Why are you using the USDM engine harness with jdm diz? Use the jdm harness + internal coil distributor. usdm diz doesn't have ckp/tdc sensors because it's at the oil pump.
If IA has emissions testing like IL where they plug into the OBD port, you'll need to run the USDM ecu at least once a year. If this is the case you must use the usdm oil pump to run the usdm ckp/tdc sensor. The usdm ecu will throw ckp/tdc codes if you try to use it with the jdm ecu. Use the usdm engine harness and external coil distributor if you need to run this setup.
You can mix and match engine harness/distributor/coil, but if you have still have your usdm parts just run a matching package for simplicity sake.

Why not take the oil pump and timing gear off the old motor?
I just saw a post on jDMcity, is Sean helping you out with this? I probably have those parts laying around if you got rid of them already. You will also need the sensors that mount to the oil pump and also need a balancer shaft belt gear from an obd2 h22 as well.
