Default spooling RPM vs turbo size

Sorry for the newb question. I'm starting a better job and will have some money to play with soon and am toying with the idea of boosting my 94 Accord. F22 VTEC/5spd with a fresh rebuild (like 36k miles currently). For now I would only be running 6-10psi since the internals are OEM spec. Might go for broke later and rebuilding with forged parts and turn the boost way up, but thats far into the future. Tuning will probably be done with Hondata. If not, it will be an extra injector setup for the time being.

Car also has a stage 1 clutch, light flywheel, and OBX catback exhaust. It *might* get a Bisi 1.2 cam and valve/retainer kit, depending on funds and how patient I am waiting for boost.

The question is, the kit I'm looking at comes with a (genuine) Garrett T25 ball bearing, but I'm afraid that may be too small...at what RPM could I expect it to start building boost with that turbo? I would like boost to build anywhere at about 3000-3500.

T25 is way small for that motor. I helped tune an accord with a T25 and it was done after 7-8 psi.

Im a pretty big newb with turbos but im going to guess...

Maybe....borg warner s200?, sc34?, GT30?....

T25s are tiny. Look into at least a T28. Maybe a TD04 16G one of the DSM turbos. Or GT28RS if you have the money. Any of those turbos will spool very quickly, almost instantly on a 2.2L

In a perfect world I want it to start building boost at around 3k rpm, but not run out of breath until well into the redline. I won't ever take it past like 7k rpm even if I do valvetrain upgrades, but still.

Than an easy T3/T04E 50 trim or GT3251 Journal bearing can do exactly that with ease. don't even need a GT2860RS

same thing i was thinking. would love to see honda dynos with the precision 5431e cea {50 trim}

the SRT guys have reported excellent results with it

i personally have one sitting on a shelf here, just won't have the build done till spring

Alright guys, I'll take that into consideration. The only other turbo vehicle I've ever owned was a 90 Eclipse GSX and it was running a Evo3 16g with a Evo3 manifold/o2 housing so yeah idk a whole lot about turbo sizing. Thanks for the advice!

Thats because they have to run larger boost pressures on that Evo 16g to make the same power. Your cylinder head, believe it or not is a bit more efficient at that. DSM and You are apples to oranges. can't take the same turbo and expect the same result on your car. Even the DSM guys get larger to 5431 and GT3251 size for better power using less pressure. They just don't want to spend money to convert to T3 is all.
