is it possible to clean INSIDE of the fuel tank without dropping the tank?

i have a pausing/hesitation issue and spark (icm, coil, plugs, etc... ) are not my issue as i replaced them ALL with NEW parts. so i am checking my fuel system, starting from the tank to the pump->regulator->injectors...

You should remove it. If anything is in there you won't be able to get it out unless you turn your car upside down.

 

A local shop that works on radiators in my town also flushes tanks for about $80, if there is something similar in your town they may can do. Or you can go to a local salvage yard and buy the tank for about the same. Either way you need to drop the tank. I bought a tank and pump from salvage yard, removed my injectors, cleaned and replaced the screens and fixed my problem. I knew mine to be fuel related as the car had sat for several years without running and very little fuel. Rusted the old pump solid.

For yours, first look at the fuel filter, after the old one is off you can knock against the ground to see if any contaminents come out. Then take the injectors out, see if the screens are clogged, should be white or near white. If they are dirty replace, if they are clean, the procede to fuel tank. If you have to go as far as the tank, while you have it out, use a compressor and blow the lines out just as a precaution.

 

I have read that on one of the bottom corners there is a "bolt" that is covered by undercoat that can be removed and fuel tank drained.
I have not confirmed this on my own yet. Just saying..
