2000 Civic Si Swap or rebuild?
So Im really new to all this HOnda stuff. I recently acquired an Civic Si with a bad motor. Me and the mad scientist are gonna rip open the block to see how bad it is. The answer to question would probably be better answered if I had this information. I was just curious of the easiest, cheapest and most reliable way to get this thing back on the road again. I know some of you guys like to keep these stock because of the rarity issue. I assure you, she's no gem. Horsepower is no concern of mine but I wouldnt be mad at cha if I gained some either.

i would find a used b20 block and freshen it up and do a b20vtec. nice set of bearings and a light hone with pistons rings and call it a day..will have plenty of power and probably cost lest then have to rebuild the b16 and trying to figure out whats damaged.
b20 or ls/vtec will do... they both use the same kit to make it run.. wats most important is wats wrong with ur motor.. head/block/tranny? b20 & ls/vtec will need the head and the tranny.. if the block is mess up (piston/rod) then yes b20 or ls/vtec... if head or tranny is gone.. replace it and drop the motor back in then go... cheap easy to go lol

if you got the "mad scientist" to do the labor, and you dont have say a hole in the block...rebuild it. I m pretty sure I saw a rebuild kit for a b16 for $300. Thats just to refresh the engine though, not to make her a performance beast, For that you'd want cams and etc....for 300 your just getting new gaskets/belts/yada yada
