Hey guys... Recently for some reason I'm having trouble starting my Ls/Vtec turbo... All summer it started the first time every time and when it does start it runs perfectly... But the past month or so it doesn't start at times... Just cranks over and over with no kick over...

I just cleaned and check the spark plugs. I can smell fuel, but what should I check next? Again the engine turns over and over... If I let it sit for 2 hours and come back it usually starts right up?

Makes no sense I'm left scratching my head... This is not a daily driver, just my weekend crx...

Any thoughts insights would be awesome!

Could it be time for new spark plugs? I have older Denso Iradium plugs 7 heat range or possibly plug wires? But again once the car starts it runs perfectly! So I'm confused...

When it doesn't start you need to check and make sure you have fuel pressure and spark.

Sounds like you are having some intermittent problem, but you need to narrow it to either fuel or spark.

 

I know you said you cleaned the plugs but how old are they? Does the battery seem weak?

 

This your first winter with this car?

 

The plugs are a good 6-7 years old, I've had them on my older B16 as well so it may be time to swap them out... My brother brought this point up today when I was looking at them... The battery is new and cranks strong... Again the motor will just turn over a times but nothing happens... So my inital thought is the spark, so I guess the next thing is to put new plugs in and go from there...

And no this will be my second winter with this engine set up... Everything was dyno tuned last December...

After work today I'm heading over to Advanced to pick up some new Denso plugs... I have a feeling this will do the trick, if not I'll be back here with more questions! LOL

Yup it was the spark plugs... Just replaced them with new Denso's and it starts right up!
