so i purchased a d15z1 engine to put in my 91 crx hf.
the engine has been sitting outside for a yr now and even through snow. i am planning to put the engine in my car next year after winter. so i was wondering if i should rebuild the engine before i put it in... my concerns is the effect of the snow on the engine and it sitting outside for 2 years.

i had the valve cover/intake and exhaust manifold removed while storing it.

The OP never said exactly HOW it was stored. Just that it was stored outside for 2 years.

 

By turning the flywheel.

sorry if i put in the wrong section, i had a question on the engine not the car.

before i had it outside not in a covered area but it was covered by a tarp, but now it is in a shed.

 

If the engine is out why not get it freshened up.

 

Well if you decide not to use it and it's a 94-95 with vtec-e on the valve cover let me know, been looking for one.

 

Valve covers dont mean anything they can be swapped around.

 

I want it to swap onto my d16y5, better looking than the stock "HONDA" cover.

 

the motor should be fine. but you should turn it over every so often to keep it lubricated. as long as the motor was not on the ground and submerged with water in the engine or oil pan and froze up you should be fine. a buddy of mine had this happen and it blew the oil pan out like a blow fish. this could cause problems with water getting and expanding between the bearings .
