Default mild steel weld prep.

Is mild steel weld prep same as aluminum ? Meaning do I just wipe down with some aceatone and than hit it with a dedicated stainless steel brush ?

Yup, gotta take off the mill scale and then you can wipe it down with acetone. Ready to go after that.

Whatever you do, don't use the same stainless steel brush with mild steel as you would with aluminum.

Sandblasting is my favorite way. I hate the vibration from grinders when you use them a lot. I think sandblasting is the fastest way, no wire brush or acetone bs.

Does not work well for stainless.

thats exactly what i did for the mild steel I used a flap disc to get the mill scale off than used a SS brush and some acetone. Is that the same process you use when welding satinless.

Im not sure why. I've tried it, it just welds like **** if you brushed it after the sandblasting it would probably be fine but that would defeat the purpose of using the sandblaster in tye first place.

For stainless i use a stainless wire wheel on a die grinder. Before i prep anything it all get washed with near boiling water to get the oil/coolant from the mill off.
