cleaning my engine
thanks for those replays to my questions.
Since my block (b16) and tranny and every thing it taken apart i was thinking of having it cleaned some how.Because my block looks clean but my tranny is dirty and when i touch it it feels like sand paper?
Is that like salt build up?
Is there anyway to get it looking like the new factory finish by cleaning it, like taking it to a place that cleans engines with good cleaning stuff that will eat all that crust off the tranny and high pressure water?
And if so what do they call that type of cleaning?

get some engine degreaser, take the car to a carwash, with the motor warm, cover the entire engine bay with the degreaser but avoid the electrical stuff like plug wires, distributor, fuse box, etc. let that stuff set for like 20 mins, then hose off, should be pretty clean. remember, try to avoid the electrical stuff as much as possible thru-out the entire process.
