AEM cold air intake vs. Comptech icebox cold air intake???
I'm trying to decide which intake to get and the research i have done hasnt helped much in providing a difinative answer as to wheather i should get the aem cai, or the comptech icebox. From what I've read, the down side to aem is water ingestion. How likely is this to occur?
Thanks for the help

only if you drive through puddles. get the bypass valve from AEM and you dont have to worry.
i'm not sure which is better....what are you planning on doing with the car?

If money isn't an obstacle get the Comptech setup. The HP differences between the two are marginal, but the Comptech setup is much less susceptible to hydro-lock. Quieter too, and no flimsy lame bypass valve.
I have both and I prefer the comptech, better throttle response, slightly better low and mid range power, and almost just as good high end, sounds a little louder than stock instead of the loud screaming from the AEM.Less chance of hydro lock,I've drivin thru rivers with the comptech and didn't have any issues,I like this intake more having the 2.Not taking anything away from the AEM its a great intake as well but all around my vote is with the comptech

It doesn't make a difference. It's just what you like.
I like the AEM cai and that's what I have.
If you do get it, don't get the bypass valve, it doesn't do anything but cost you money and make noise.
I like them both too, and I too have the AEM. Just the same the Comptech is better.
I agree, don't bother with the bypass valve, they're flimsy on top of doing very little.

Bypass Valve is a waste of time money a ruins a intake. If you end up getting a BV on you'll loose the gains you got from the intake. The chance of getting water in it is possible, but inorder for it suck up water, the intake has to be submerged. So if you don't have flooding problems in your area and you want to save money go with AEM but if you are really worried about water sucking up that much and you have the cash go with the ICEBOX. The only downside with the ICEBOX (which isn't really a downside) is that the filtering element is foam and needs to be cleaned more often.
