Hondata s300/ecu issue
Wondering if anyone out there has had issues throwing DTC 9 cyp sensor code which turned out to be bad ecu? Back in 2009 I purchased the s300 bundle package from phearable.net right at $1200 dollars, and before I was able to get fully tuned threw code 9 which held me back from getting tuned. Went through all troubleshooting and came down to bad ecu. Called and spoke with hondata and phearable and were not able to do anything for me, said I would have to spend another $300 for new ecu since they only provide a 30 day warranty. Purchased new ecu in 2010 thinking I just got a bad one out of the bunch and now Iam sitting here 2yrs. (6000 miles) later with same dtc 9 and needing another ecu #3. Hondata said its a wiring issue and have never seen this before (I call bullshit). Iam a certified honda technician for 14yrs. now and no idiot. I have a brand new honda distributor which tests fine, and even ran 2 new wires to eliminate a wiring issue. You have the cyp sensor and 2 wires which are controlled by ecu...thats it. I have a feeling hondata maybe heating up something on ecu board burning something up not sure but hopefully someone can help please Iam very frustrated. Does anyone no if anyone can fix ecu's or have a fix for my problem. Dont want to buy a ecu every year (3000 miles) so I need to find a fix. Thanks
Repairs are $50/per with 30 days warranty. The repair is permanent as far as the originally affected circuitry is concerned but if there is an external issue with your wiring or ignition system which is causing the delayed failure, I can't control that.
Sounds awesome! Where are u located? Iam most positive its not a wiring issue, but I run the m&w pro 10 and have heard from a few can cause some type of electrical interference. If ecu can be fixed is this something on board that can be upgraded so doesnt happen again? I feel like something is heating up something on honda ecu board and burning it up because I never see these problems as far as ecu's go or the code 9. Just my experience as a 14yr. Honda tech. When the code has popped both times I was in boost gettin it if this says anything.
I'm in Puerto Rico (USA) and you can get both ECUs in a USPS Medium Flat Rate box for about $12 shipped. If interested, I can send you my address via PM.
...Oh and thanks MOUAB18C1 for the support :-(

I'm assuming when you wrote that you went through all the troubleshooting, you tried another distributor ? Tested continuity from the dizzy wire down to ECU ?
Sorry I only vouch for people I've personally dealt with. Nothing against you.
Yeah wires good from dizzy to ecu and have put on new oem honda distributor twice now. If I send out ecu what would be turn around time? The only thing that worries me is fixing ecu and seeing this issue again and again. Hopefully when problem is found something can be upgraded on ecu board. Do we know what is going bad on board specifically? Please send me ur mailing address.

If the code doesnt appear on the bench, or in another car here (if we have one to test in at the time) then the chance is your car or dizzy is the issue.
We can turn a repair ECU around in a couple of days and have fixed this exact issue before. Rivera would be a good choice as well if you are closer to him...regardless, just want to get you fixed up as reasonably ($) as you can though.
