I have a 98 accord sir swap in my 98 civic. I am using a chipped p28 and a 1998 civic hx harness. I rewired my obd1 jdm internal coil dizzy to a obd2a plug so it was pnp to my harness... I am throwing code 9. My car was down and out for around 6 months because i rebuilt the motor and painted my engine bay. The car starts fine, and idles fine. I ohmed out the CYP and it read 370 which is with in spec. My main harness seemed to be missing the pinout for the CYP ground, so i added the pin and grounded it. Still got the code.
I don't think my distributor is bad because i never had this problem before and it worked fine last time i ran the car before i pulled it. I tested the ECU in another h22a swapped civic and no code was thrown, so it's not the ecu. The owner of the civic won't let me rewire his obd1 distributor to test it in my car so that is the only part i can not surely check.
I can not figure out why it is throwing the CEL 9, and so i am going to try and replace my distributor.
I DO NOT want to run an external coil set up simply because its clutter and more wiring i would have to do.
So what are my options either USDM or JDM distributors i can use that have all the sensors in the distributor. OBD2a or OBD1, the rewiring is acceptable... Just not the external coil part.
After some research i am pretty sure that jdm obd1 and obd2a h22's use all sensors in the dizzy and not on the oil pump. I read that if i want an obd2a internal dizzy with all the sensors, i can use the TD89U.
I also read that i can use my current obd1 jdm dizzy converted to the obd2a plug, and buy a f20x(i forget the variation) and swap the guts or something...
Basically, i am trying to find out all my options of what distributor i can use and or swap guts over to retain the same distributor... Please assist me.
Also, link to my hybrid thread about the code 9 problem if you think you can assist.

obd2 USDM distributors all have an external coil except for select aftermarket.
Just get a jdm one. i'm not sure if they're all internal as far as the jdm obd2 go it's been awhile...
If you're getting a code 9 it could be for something besides the dizzy.
check to make sure your timing is right and it didn't skip at all - because thats what the code 9 is calling for... something is off

I read you can use the h22 dizzy housing and the guts of a f22 to make it all work... i didn't know if it was true though and it wasn't "solid" information imo.
Pictures of timing...
