91civic rear disk conversion question
i came across some rear disk brakes off a 89 integra and was wondering what all has to be changed on my 91 civic si to put them on there. some people say nothing, some say MC and some say MC and booster.
checked autozone and the boosters seem to be the same diffrent part number but same exact specs. anyone know if i can use my stock booster?
i need to change the MC anyways but i need to know if i should get integra's or civic's MC.
also do i need to change the p valve?

40/40 proportioning valve and a 15/16" Master Cylinder from a '90-91 Civic EX... Aside from the brakes themselves this is all you need. The master cylinder outlets are in the same location, angle, and size as your stock and will bolt right up to the stock brake booster. Same goes for the proportioning valve.

okay thanks, is there any other cars i can get this / p valve off of? just curious.
also, what will happen if i use the stock MC and valve? just untill i get this MC and valve?
if it does like my mustang did the back brakes wont work that great.

i wont actualy put the brakes on untill i get a MC and p valve that will work. just trying to find where all i can get the correct ones. friends have some parts and i check places like craigslist for junk honda's being parted out. was just thinking about my mustang has factory MC and a disk brake swap in the back. the back brakes dont work unless you pump the brakes repetedly but the front work fine and stop the car.
pretty sure he's right. you want 90 up rear discs for it to work. 4040 proportioning valve and EX or DA master cylinder should be used also.
The way I did it, I went for DA Integra front and rear disc conversion, as well is DA proportioning valve, master cylinder and booster. Rather than having part A from one car, part B from a different car, the whole system is DA and designed to work together. And the brakes are fantastic.
yea they will stop you just as good, when thatss all you have. get disks and see how much better you stop, exspecily after hittin some roads like dragons tail in tenn. lets see if your drum brakes even work after that.
See now we are getting to a topic people have no clue what they are talking about... Being I'm in the upper echelon of "baby boomers", I must ask a question... If drum brakes are so horrible - why oh why, did they put them race cars, semi-trucks, and passenger vehicles let alone vehicles on all four corners? Why is it to this day they still put them on vehicles? There are advantages and disadvantages to both. You can't say the technology didn't exist either... Regardless, you must understand you are also putting bigger than stock brakes. This has been beat to death and you would be surprised by the results when tested side by side... take for example a CRX Si and a CRX DX...
im getting disks because my drums suck, riding curvy roads and such with hard braking i had to stop because my brakes got too hot and stopped working, disks im getting drilled and slotted rotors so hopefuly that wont happen again. plus disks look better
and disks come factory on most modern cars. exspecily sportiewr ones. drums only come on lower end cars like alot of the kia's (not all but lower end) and such cars. they are probably cheaper for the manufacter and at the same time provide sufficient braking for daily driving,
when it comes down to it, drums and disks work as good as the other, untill it gets HOT then disks cool faster and work better. thats the ONLY reasion im swapping. disks are more exspencive but ill manage the $10 more per brake change.

This is correct. If you use a DA master cylinder you will have to change out the brake booster as well. The bolt pattern is not the same. You will also need the brake cable and brake lines from a DA. You can get the brake lines from a CRX Si if you want as well.
