What mods for d16y8 to beat k20z1
What mods are necessary to beat a K20z1? Seriously, I want to be running at least 14's on my 93 civic hatchback with a d16y8... I also want to beat my sis-in-law's 04 CRV with a stock k24, lol. She think that it is hella fast, lmao! So what mods do I need? I'm assuming turbo with 8 psi?
You can't just slap a turbo in, turn it to 8 psi and go race people.
You haven't given us enough to info to help you. bench racing is pointless, And talking about street racing is allowed here.

I told you that I'd like to make it to the 14 second range, isn't that enough information? Besides, what is bench racing? I've never heard of bench racing, lol..

I'm assuming taking out my plastic pieces, taking out all of my rear seats, seat belts, and taking out my 9 lbs spare vx rim will equal less weight? As for tires, I'm running on some tiger paw touring tires with my 9lbs vx rims. As for the turbo, are the ebay ones' good enough?

yea and passanger seat and you get what you pay for
Did you mention anything about budget? Anything on other upgrades to the car?
Do you have any clue about what your getting your self into?
A k swap is noithing you should to be doing.
Spend some time reading on this site so you can become knowledgeable on the subject. To be quick the D16Y8 doesn't gain much from a naturally aspirated stand point. For what they are they respond well to turbo applications. You can bolt one on (NOT FROM EBAY) unless it's a quality kit. It won't be faster than the Z1 though. You can build the motor and then turbo it, but you will be at a high cost.
There are people here that have nice turbo setups that didn't cost them much money, but they did all the work themselves and saved on labor. Look into some sort of motor swap. B18B1 is great for turbo, B18C and B18C1 B18C5 are great all motor donors as well. They have more potential. On a budged id get the B1 and bolt on a nice turbo kit.
Be sure to tune.

Of course, I know what I'm getting myself into, lol. A fast azz d16y8 with boost... On the other hand, I don't think I'll ever go K because the swap is really expensive..

my buddy is sitting at around 17k with his, and it's not done yet.
but I really don't think you do, not to be rude.
but It takes a lot more to make power on a D then you think. You may need internals, you will fuel system upgrades, clutch, cooling, tuning etc.
Not to mention a quality turbo kit will set you back $2000+
Build it within your budget, and don't worry about beating other cars. If you're dead set on keeping the Y8 then do some research on here. But it's not just slapping a turbo on. There are other areas that need attention. Good luck with your build.
