Default D16y8 swap trouble

Okay, here is the story. We swapped a d16y8 into my 93 civic eg hatchback and everything was a simple plug and play. However, now it just won't start for **** no more. At first, it started and cranked up. Now, it's just not starting no more. Well, what happened was that we were testing all of the spark plugs, right? Then, I started pulling out the spark plug wires to test out the car an then all of the sudden when I got to spark plug wire #3 the car just died! Now it won't start up for **** now! Any advice would greatly be appreciated! Also, the car sounds funny when we were able to start it up. It was lagging really bad and had a CEL on, too, shiet!

Will i be able to use my original ignition coil then? If so, I'm changing it. Also, the car revved up really slow and I have no idea why it was that way. Well for the check engine light I have no idea how to even check it....

Oky you swap motors & now you have a D16y8 motor on car 93 hatch. First off all you will need to swap out your injectors, disturbutor and ecu (P28). everything else is a plug and play. Witch I assume you did cuz the car crank up. You are coming of a OBD2 to OBD1. If you had power the first time of the swap you are in gud hands. Does the car try's to turn over or just dead but has power.

Unplugging spark plug wires while the engine is running is one of the best ways to blow the coil inside the distributor.

The car wants to start up, however, it wont crank up because I'm assuming it has to do with me taking out the spark plug wire on cylinder on #3. After that, it has been a mess! I'm thinking the dizzy got fried or the ignition coil is dead. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

LOL, damn! Okay, so would I be able to use my stock ignition coil from my 92-95 honda civic, or do I have to god damn spend $60-80 to get a new ignition coil? So, do you think it's the ignition coil or the distributor that is dead because I tested it out and the wires and spark plugs are not getting any sparks at all. However, when we tested my wires on my cousin's d16y8 my wires had power and it started. I'm thinking either my ignition coil is dead or I fried my dizzy!

The FAQs sticky has a diagram that tells you how to test the coil.

Thanks you, I won't need any of your parts because I already have a four wire o2 sensor and my old ignition coil out of my d15z1 worked, great! Anyway, I figured out what was wrong with the car, lol. It was exactly is what I was thinking... I was the god damn rotor, dizzy cap, and ignition coil, ***! Now I just need a ecu and need to rewire my 5 wire o2 sensor to a 4 wire o2 sensor.. Anyone knows how to rewire it? Any help would greatly be appreciated! D16Y8 semi-complete...

Did you happen to paint the y8 engine block before you put it in? Check the thermostat ground wire that is part of the harness for contact and corrosion. I had the same problem and it turned out thats what it was.

Try sanding the contact points on the thermostat housing and on the ground wire with a heavy grit sand paper, like 180 grit or even 220.
