Brake Calipers on 99 civic EX
Im at a loss. I go to do brakes on my brothers car today. Autozone tells me they have two differnt size brakes for the car.
Ok ill buy both sets and return one of them. It turns out one set of pads are slightly smaller than the other.
ok
I get one set on and there fine. As im doing the brakes Both calipers need to be replaced. Im game ill do it.
I go to advanced auto the calipers and braket set they try selling me are totally different. No where near the same size as whats on there .
Im confused I say to the guy working at the store you sell two different size pads and one is clearly a different size than another shouldn't there be two different size calipers?
There is not he says.
So here is my problem , the card calipers are not the same as the ones at advanced auto the bracket looks smaller and so does the caliper.
Could brake swap been done ? If so is there a brake swap that has different calipers but still retains the same pads.
Im at a loss . Im really not a Honda man so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanx
Cars a 1999 civic EX ( Im sure I car faxed the vin)

What Im asking for is a part number to the correct caliper. I could drive around and match calipers up , look at casting numbers or more preferably call a auto part store with a caliber part number have them cross reference it in there computer and see if they have the correct caliper.
So im asking any one in honda land for a part number to a caliper with the number 5410 stamped on it please.
BTW thank you RonJ for the help you made my life allot easier.

You are correct thinking that there should be two different calipers available if there are two different pad types.
All the different parts stores will use their own part numbers. On top of that, their databases are almost ALWAYS incorrect. There are many different calipers for Civics and finding the correct replacement ones can be a total bitch. You should take your old parts into the store with you to verify the part they are trying to sell you is the right one.
Here are the OEM part number (not that it will help you):
Right: 45018-S01-A02
Left: 45019-S01-A02
Your best bet might be to order online. The company Centric, who make race parts like stoptech & powerslot, remanufacture calipers as well. I've found their specific parts interchange to be VERY accurate when dealing with different Honda calipers. Look up your caliper on thier website and then plug the part numbers into google. Usually RockAuto.com has the best price (google will have 5% discount copuons for them too). Don't know how quickly they will get it to you though.

edit*** Centric Part numbers are 141.40085 and 141.40086 and can be had for pretty cheap on some websites (don't know if I'd trust PartsGeek.com):

Yes, definitely air in the system. Don't know the bleed sequence for EK, but the EG's are RR, LF, LR, RF. Perhaps someone else can chime in if the EK's are different.
If the pedal seems to slowly drop as your holding steady pressure with your foot, that is most likely a bad master cylinder. It's the main symptom of an internal leak past the piston seal which allows fluid back up into the reservoir. I've had this on a few Hondas. It usually acts up once it gets hot out. You can actually watch the reservoir rise and fall if have someone else pump the brakes when this is happening.
