Accord stalls in front of traffic light when tank is low
I have a 1994 Accord EX wagon.
The engine stalls in front of a traffic light or stop sign when the tank is low, i.e. in the lower 1/4 but not empty. It depends on how hard you hit the break.
Initially, I thought the problem is a weak fuel pump combined with an old fuel filter. The fuel filter was not exchanged for at least 50k miles. However, replacing the fuel filter didn't change anything and, therefore, I no longer think that a weak fuel pump is the problem.
Any I idea what the problem could be?

More than likely the bottom of your tank has built up crud/junk, the fuel sock may also be getting clogged with this junk as the tank gets lower.
Two things to prevent this, remove the tank and have it cleaned, or just keep your fuel level above the 1/2 tank mark. I have a similar issue with an older Mazda. For now I just keep it above 1/2 tank. I also find that I get better mileage. ~26MPG if I run it all the way down to the 1/4 mark, or ~35MPG if I just run it to 1/2 tank and refill. Same station, same pump, same grade. A quick change of habits is not the final solution, but for the interim it works. Try adding some Seafoam at your next fill up it may help break up some of the sludge.
